Why doesn’t SMPlayer work?
Q
I downloaded the free media player SMPlayer (www.smplayer.
info),
which you’ve recommended in the past. But when I try to use it with YouTube I see a ‘client error occurred’ message that says “the caller does not have permission”. Do you know what that means?

Click Help and select ‘Install/Update YouTube support’ in SMPlayer to get the plug-in needed to play YouTube videos
A
You need to install a
plug-in
to
play YouTube videos in SMPlayer. You’re usually prompted to
download this when you first attempt to play a YouTube video, but if you missed this or you want to try reinstalling the plug-in to see if this fixed the problem, click the Help menu (
1
in our screenshot below) and select ‘Install/ Update YouTube support’
