Bing caught cross-dressing as Google
Microsoft is so pleased with recent AI improvements to its search engine Bing that it’s desperate for you to try it – even if that means tricking you into thinking you’re using Google instead.
Many people spotted this just after Christmas, while searching for Google on Bing, using either Edge or Chrome. It produced a results page that looked strangely similar to Google’s home page, rather than the usual Bing results page. I mean, just look at that image at the top (see screenshot 1 ). If that’s not a deliberate attempt to copy Google’s famous doodles, then I’m a pink squirrel called Colin. There’s no mention you’re using Bing apart from ‘Promoted by Microsoft’.
