We were impressed by the speed and sturdy design of Crucial’s X10 Pro when we reviewed it back in Issue 670. This cheaper version offers a greater choice of storage capacities than the Pro – aside from the 2TB we review here there’s 1TB (£106), 4TB (£260), 6TB (£360) and 8TB (£530). The Pro maxes out at 4TB.
Crucial quotes read speeds of up to 2,200MB/s and write speeds of 2,000MB/s, which matches the Pro, though it lacks its predecessor’s hardware encryption option. That need not be a deal breaker because you can encrypt files using third-party software, though it’s not as convenient.
