Use all four!
The Black Salt Audio cm collection
Our top tip for using the Black Salt Audio CM Collection is not to be afraid of using all four simultaneously, and secondly, not to use them as advertised! For the latter we mean use Oxygen X not just as a total mix effect but use it on individual instruments as well. And for Pocket Delay X, use it on non-vocal instruments, even though it is advertised as a vocal slap delay. Taking each one of these effects out of its comfort zone does reward you with some unexpected results – experiment and see for yourself. We also tried a combination of all four on various instruments and found that you can really get creative with beats, for example, being careful not to crush them too much using TeloFi X, but using that particular plugin in its almost accidental enhancement mode, that we discuss in the workshop. Then, dial a bit of Pocket Delay X in for some subtle slap delay and tweak the filter to taste. Both Oxygen X and Low Control X can then take care of the low-end beats and hi-end percussion so you have all bases covered.
