MeldaProduction MSpectralDynamicsLE

MeldaProduction’s MSpectralDynamics plugin is an incredibly effective tool for frequency-specific compression, gating, de-essing and much more, but its deep, highly-configurable architecture can be intimidating to some. For those users, then, the new LE version should make a welcome alternative, offering all eight of MSpectralDynamics’ top-level preset configurations but restricting access to the complex under-the-hood parameters on which they’re based. Each preset has its own easy-to-grok bank of controls, and the spectral wizardry that underlies them is every bit as empowering here as in the full enchilada, applying such descriptively-named processes as Flatten, Compressor, Ducking and Gate to every individual frequency in the input signal, rather than on the conventional ‘broadband’ basis.

The upshot of all this is a streamlined, approachable version of MSpectralDynamics that makes no compromises sonically, and comes in at a considerably lower price than its big brother: £89 versus £180.
