2019 TOUR DE FRANCE ROUTE
The Tour de France director isn’t shy about his desire to loosen Team Sky’s grip on his race. Christian Prudhomme has lobbied successfully for the introduction of eight-man teams, cut back on time trial kilometres, introduced a sixty five kilometre stage with the GC stars lined out on an F1-style grid in an attempt to separate them from their domestiques, and through it all Sky have kept on winning the yellow jersey. As the race prepares to celebrate the centenary of that fabled fleece at the 2019 race, Prudhomme has unveiled a new strategy in the shape of a high-rise Tour.
