For the past year I’ve been learning how to create illustrations of impossible geometry in Blender, inspired by the work of M.C. Escher, Oscar Reutersvärd, and the game Monument Valley, developed by ustwo games. It started out as a simple curiosity, asking myself “How can I make this in 3D?”, and followed by “How can I develop a technique around it?”.
I explored a few topics while figuring the ins and outs of impossible objects, and eventually became fascinated about the idea of snakes curling around one. The bush viper here is part of an upcoming collection of five pieces, where I wanted to further explore this idea using different snakes, each with their own characteristic pattern, as well as different impossible structures.
