Aloha Dreamliner!

(Photo Hawaiian Airlines)

HAWAIIAN AIRLINES has welcomed its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which arrived in Honolulu after a delivery flight from South Carolina on February 14. The jet, N781HA (c/n 66429), flew for the first time on December 21, 2023, and is powered by two General Electric GEnx-1B powerplants.

Speaking at the time of the delivery, Peter Ingram, president and CEO of Hawaiian Airlines said: “This day has been a long time coming – in fact, today marks almost six years to the date when we first announced our investment in the 787-9 as the new flagship fleet for our company.” The airline and Boeing have worked together to ensure elements of Hawaii’s natural environment were included in the cabin finish, including wall panels in native wood grains and lavatory flooring said to be inspired by shimmering black volcanic sand. Passengers will also see seat row numbers and other placards written in the Hawaiian language.
