Presumably the recipient, one Charles Salter of ‘Edinborough’, was pleased to receive to this 18th century green-glazed creamware presentation teapot, right, in 1791. Certainly it was well received at Ramsay Cornish’s (17% buyer’s premium) sale at Edinburgh on March 4.
It had some restorations to the handle and spout and was estimated at £100-150 but the teapot, with the name and date enclosed within gilt scrolling swags, sold to a collector at £600.
