The footballing power of mighty George Brown led to his nickname of ‘Bomber’ decades before the title went to Gerd Müller. Brown’s glory days were with Huddersfield Town FC, a power in the land 90 years ago.
In the 1926-27 season he scored 35 goals to help the Terriers win their third successive 1st Division championship. Brown went on to play for Aston Villa, Burnley and Leeds, as well as England.
