Among the most iconic works of David Hockney’s (b.1937) output was his Paper Pools series, focusing on the private Californian swimming pools he experienced in the late 1970s.
Offered at Gildings (18% buyer’s premium) of Market Harborough in Leicestershire on September 4 was a signed limited edition of Pool Made with Paper and Blue Ink for Paper Pools, right, one of the best known from the series.
The 10 x 8½in (26 x 22cm) coloured lithograph, dated ‘80 and numbered in pencil 475/1000, came from a private collector who acquired it less than 10 years ago from the Goldmark Gallery in Uppingham.
