Pinxton cabinet plate – £1000 at Mitchells.
William Billingsley (1758-1828), a key figure in the history of both English and Welsh porcelain, left the Derby factory in 1795 yearning to create the finest, whitest and most translucent porcelain.
The following year, in partnership with John Coke (b.1775), a local industrialist with an appreciation of Dresden porcelain, he established the Pinxton Porcelain Factory.
