The July issue of AW (out July 3) features an in-depth interview with heptathlon star Anna Hall. After two years of injury troubles, the American world silver medallist showed she is back to full strength after producing the joint second-highest tally in history, scoring 7032 in Götzis. She talks to Euan Crumley about working her way through the pain and rediscovering her mental, as well as physical, powers.

There has also been more individual brilliance in recent weeks from Mondo Duplantis, who broke the men’s pole vault record for a 12th time in Stockholm. Cathal Dennehy takes a deep dive into exactly how the serial Olympic and world champion has been able to set himself apart from the competition.

Meanwhile, it’s 40 years since Steve Cram went on a summer record-breaking spree, taking down the world marks for 1500m, mile and 2000m in the space of just 19 days. He takes Jason Henderson behind the scenes to tell the story of an unforgettable season.

An even bigger milestone has been reached by the English Schools Athletic Association, which is celebrating its centenary year and has special plans afoot this month for its renowned track and field championships. Many a future champion has learned the art of competition and so much more at the event down the years and Jason Henderson looks at its rich history.

The issue also features exclusive interviews with Olympic 100m champion Julien Alfred, British 5000m record-holder George Mills, hurdles star Femke Bol and European indoor 3000m champion Sarah Healy.

There’s plenty of opinion from our columnists on the latest goings on in the sport, too, and don’t forget the performance section which features expert training advice, training insight from steeplechase Elise Thorner, the coaching thoughts of Jackie Newton and reviews of the best shoes to run in this summer.
