Welcome to our Spring issue of Autostrada,
After many months of hibernation we are excited to get back on the
roads and enjoy our local automotive culture. We recently hosted our
first Autostrada Cars & Coffee of the season in partnership with our
friends at Hagerty Garage + Social and had a spectacular turnout of
over 300 cars despite rainy conditions. We are very fortunate to have
the support and encouragement of our automotive community.
Our Autostrada Track Days have also kicked off for the summer at
Toronto Motorsports Park. These relaxed lapping days are a perfect
way to share our automotive passion with our partners and friends
in a safe and controlled environment. We are looking forward to
more exciting events throughout the season, please stay tuned
to our social media channels for opportunities to be involved.
Our cover story for this issue is legendary race car driver and Le Mans
legend Derek Bell. We recently met Derek at the 2023 Canadian
International Auto Show and enjoyed a fantastic gala evening
listening to his incredibly vivid racing memories. He has raced the
24 Hours of Le Mans 26 times and took victory 5 times, including 4
wins in a Porsche. He also won the 24 Hours of Daytona 3 times and
the World Sportscar Championship twice – again in Porsches. We
are so grateful to Derek and his team for all their assistance with this
article as well as our talented contributing writer Alex Lawrence. We
know you will enjoy reading about Derek’s passion, history & journey.
