Among the most interesting and exciting things about carp fishing for me, are those very early sessions on a new water. There is a learning curve to ascend on every venue, and I really do enjoy those first few trips, taking in absolutely everything that’s going on regarding both other anglers, and the lake itself.
Now, when watching other anglers, that doesn’t mean peering through binoculars at them to see which rigs and baits they’re using, because I am not interested in that side of things. Working out successful bait and rigs for myself, is a big part of my whole fishing experience, and I just don’t want stuff like that handed to me on a plate. On the other hand, I am interested in things such as when the majority of other anglers arrive, how long they stay for, and other little details like what time they put their rods out etc. I am not too bothered where, but from this information, sometimes a pattern emerges that might help me in future sessions.
