So with a possible holding spot located and my bait chosen—the old Richworth KG1 was my preference at the time, and based on an LT94 fishmeal recipe alongside Plum and Crab attractors, it was a good allyear-round bait—I needed an effective baiting plan
to complete the jigsaw. Despite spring being a great time for them, I have to say, I’m not a great fan of fishing single hookbaits, and much prefer to have something in front of me.
On this occasion, I didn’t feel that using a spod was the right thing to do, and at the same time, I didn’t want to introduce a wide scattering of boilies via either a catapult or throwing stick. In fact, I felt that I wanted something in-between. With the thought that I was angling for tricky fish always in my mind, for the rod fished in the slightly deeper spot, I came up with an idea that tied in really well with my tactics of getting the rods out and settled a few hours earlier than normal, especially as this would involve an extra few casts.
