Since going viral with her cover of Yes Sir, I Can Boogie in 2021, Scottish singer Brooke Combe has largely been associated with indie – she’s supported a host of the genre’s artists such as Miles Kane, features on Courteeners’ new LP and is produced by The Coral singer James Skelly.
It’s a tag that frustrates Combe, who sees herself as an old-school soul singer. Although Skelly is still Combe’s main producer, she also has Michael Kiwanuka associate Paul Butler of The Bees involved in her debut album.
