This US trio are criminally underrated, so these vinyl reissues are overdue. Co-produced by Dinosaur Jr’s J Mascis, 1990’s raw Birdbrain is dominated by grunge guitars and post-hardcore energy. Two years on, Let Me Come Over boasted prettier melodies and introspective songs – the band cited Neil Young and The Rolling Stones as influences – led by the melancholy Taillights Fade and Mineral. Buffalo Tom broke through with 1993’s Big Red Letter Day, home to alt-rock gems (Sodajerk) and nostalgic classics (Late At Night).
