REMEDY/ROOTY
XL
Strangely forgotten these days, throughout the 00s Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe were at the forefront of condensing smart, catchy and often Latinoinfluenced dance into perfect pop singles. These vinyl reissues of their first two albums deserve to get people remembering their headrush joy. Beyond wondrous singles Red Alert and Jump N’ Shout, 1999’s Remedy is a little patchy as the duo formulate their sound into shape. Two years later, Rooty was a colourful, irresistible wave of ideas typified by transforming Gary Numan on Where’s Your Head At.
