Readers’ Tips
TIP OF THE FORTNIGHT
Set a timer for scheduled screenshots
I’m a recent convert to ShareX (www.snipca.com/53506), after you recommended it in Issue 702 (page 18). I love how easy it is to take scheduled screenshots every few minutes to check the performance of my PC when I’m in the middle of a task that uses lots of resources, such as editing videos.
To take screenshots at intervals, open ShareX then click Capture at the top left, followed by ‘Auto capture’. Now change the settings to suit your needs. The most important one is the ‘Repeat time’ ( 1 in our screenshot), which is the interval between your screenshots.
I’ve been using it to see how the graphs in Resource Monitor 2 change over, say, 10 minutes. This helps to identify moments when my PC is sluggish. To open Resource Monitor (which shows more detailed performance information than Task Manager) press Windows key+R then type resmon. I’m sure other readers will find other reasons for taking staggered screenshots.
