I remember as a kid my Dad explaining we could set timers on our Betamax to record programmes while we were on holiday. I was astounded. I could spend a week in arcades in Butlins then return and watch the episodes of Top of the Pops, Tomorrow’s World and Grange Hill that I’d missed.
