It’s been eight months since the last major new version of Files, but this huge update justifies the wait. The brilliant file manager has been redesigned, without losing its simplicity, and added lots of useful features.
The biggest change is the introduction of the Omnibar, which replaces the address bar across the top of the Files window. Similar to the address bar in a web browser, this combines navigation and search functions. Either enter the path of a folder to view its contents in the area below or type the name of a file or folder to search for that item.
