I’m always happy to receive a wall calendar for Christmas, and not just to cover the crack in my kitchen wall. Although I’ve lost the childhood excitement of flipping over a page to a new month and picture, it’s still the best way to keep track of birthdays, medical appointments and other important events.
That may be why I’ve never fully embraced Google Calendar or other digital calendar services. I know they sync your schedule across devices, remind you about imminent events and make it easy to amend information without having to scribble it in biro, but they feel too much like work to be fun.
