GCN

392 Welcome, dear reader, to the March 2026 issue of GCN. As we emerge from winter, we have a fire in our bellies and an eagerness to spotlight key issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community, both at home and around the world. Our cover feature is an in-depth look at the state of trans healthcare in Ireland, as those at the forefront of the battle spotlight the urgent need for a model grounded in informed consent and depathologisation. Healthcare is not the only realm of civil life under the spotlight in our March issue. In this edition, we hear from housing activists about how new rental laws may impact LGBTQ+ tenants. Elsewhere, representatives from the ICCL, TENI and ShoutOut share how their recent publication, the Know Your Rights guide for trans and non-binary people, came to be. Of course, no edition of GCN is complete without a fabulous celebration of queer culture. This time round, we hear from the newly crowned Mx GCN 2026 Michael Fry about his victorious night at So You Think You Can Drag. Chris Colfer, fresh off the Irish premiere of The Restoration at Grayson Manor, spills the tea about his experience filming in Co. Laois. Subashini Goda, a Louth-based Indian classical dancer, shares their vision for the future of Bharatanatyam and explores what art can achieve when you look beyond perfection. And, as Ireland’s furry community looks ahead to Ainmhícon in April, the conference’s organisers invite us to embrace our curiosity and step inside this fascinating culture. Here in Ireland, we may be looking ahead to sunnier days, but Pride has already landed in the Southern Hemisphere. Accordingly, we have coverage of Mardi Gras in Sydney and Carnival in Rio de Janeiro. You’ll find all this and lots, lots more in the March 2026 issue. We hope these stories inspire, challenge and connect you with the broader LGBTQ+ community. Happy reading!
