Living Blues #288 features California guitarist Arthur Adams. For more than 60 years Adams has been playing gospel, blues, R&B, and funk, lending his chops to hundreds of recording sessions and dozens of his own releases. Canadian blues band the Blackburn Brothers trace their roots back to enslavement in Kentucky and an escape north along the Underground Railroad. This issue’s Let It Roll focusses on Avalon, Mississippi’s John Hurt was always a bit of an anomaly in the blues. His gentle singing and finger-picked guitar sound were like nothing else to come out of his home state.
