Revolution Trains’ new ‘N’ gauge Class 66 project launched officially at the Warley show (see last month’s issue), with the first EPs on display. Also announced was a limited edition model of GBRf’s 66788 Locomotion 15, which will be a joint enterprise with Locomotion Models and Rails of Sheffield.
Produced as part of the Railway Icons range, the model depicts a ‘66’ named in 2019 to commemorate the first 15 years of the Locomotion museum at Shildon. Revolution will be employing the correct tooling within its new Class 66 range to reflect 66788’s former Class 66/0 identity, being built originally for EWS as 66238, before being acquired and modified by GBRf in 2018. Accordingly, swing-head buckeye couplers and control levers will be installed, along with location beacons on the horn grille and original BMAC headlights units.
Revolution’s Ben Ando said: “As enthusiasts we support the work done at Shildon, especially in recording the vital role the railways have played in moving freight, and we are delighted to be able to offer a model of a locomotive named in Locomotion’s honour.”
