LOCHABER MP Ian Blackford said that the ‘day of action’ against bank closures was a great success after thousands of signatures were collected on petitions.
The petitions are asking the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) board members and the Westminster government to reverse the recent decisions to close branches across the country, including the Mallaig branch which is set to shut in June.
Mr Blackford joined protesters, members of the community and Highland councillors in Mallaig on Saturday to hand out leaflets and invite passers-by to sign the petition.
