Kinlochleven-based football team South Lochaber Thistle are hoping to establish the first women’s football team in the West Highlands.
The club is holding an open public meeting this Friday, September 21, to gauge interest in the project. Hosted by the Leven Centre facility in Kinlochleven school campus at 6pm, the meeting is open to anyone interested in becoming involved with a women’s team, from players, committee members, coaches or even supporters keen to learn more.
Thistle president Peter Newman said: ‘Forming a women’s team marks the continuation of the Jags’ journey to create an inclusive local footballing community which, it is hoped, will eventually include schools’ coaching and a veterans’ team – essentially off ering football, irrespective of class or gender.’
