Welsh National Opera (WNO) is to establish a fully integrated international opera school at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD), enabling emerging artists to receive teaching from the College’s staff, members of WNO and leading figures from the wider opera world.
The opera school will provide training for all opera performance and production disciplines, catering for singers, instrumentalists, conductors, directors, répétiteurs, stage managers and designers.
RWCMD already runs opera performance classes, but will formalise opera connections with other courses, as well as introducing a Masters programme for trainee opera directors.
