DEVELOPER Q&A
GREG DUDDLE ON CONVERTING SABRE WULF TO THE C64
How familiar were you with Sabre Wulf before converting it?
When I got the job I already loved the game. I used to borrow a Spectrum at the weekends from Mr Micro and played games on it, and Sabre Wulf was my favourite at the time. So when I was asked if I wanted to convert it to the C64 it was a no-brainer! I loved the idea.
How did you get the job?
I think it was because I’d made a game called Willow Pattern. It was for Firebird too, and it wasn’t a million miles from being the same type of game. So Firebird must have recognised that if we could do what we did with it then we were the perfect people to do Sabre Wulf.
How much contact did you have with the Ultimate team?
Well that’s easy – Ihad none. I worked for Mr Micro, whose boss was Jim Gregory. He did all of the deals. So I never met them or had any contact with them. It was all done through my boss. I did provide code updates every now and then – versions of the game, but he sent them on.
