Let Change In.
S ome days it can feel like the world is heading for meltdown, on others days I’m feeling hopeful that enough of the world leaders will listen to the science and that people power will prevail. We’re on a cusp, so we chat to Amy Slack at Surfers Against Sewage, to get an insight into what lies ahead, how the pandemic has affected the health of the planet, and how we can help to make changes.
On a positive note, the pandemic has brought us all more time as we’ve been forced to slow down our hectic lives and not travel as much . Going with the lockdown adjustments, Lea Brassy spent most of the year not in her usual Tahiti, but in France, getting back to the land and exploring French breaks. With eco travel on the agenda as we’re travelling less, Sophie Everard looks at developments in the surf travel industry with the spread of environmental awareness.
We get an insight into the world of longboarding, with tips from world champ Chloe Calmon and a chat with longboarder Vaimiti, who is living her best life in Tahiti. Longboarding looks so timeless and we’re delighted to showcase this elegant sport with a cool project from Brazilian photographer Mario Nardy with Jamim Avelino, reflecting the femininity of dancing on waves.
Finally, if you could change your life, would you? It’s the, “what if you fall, but what if you fly?” moment. We meet the women who made big changes in their lives for surf; if you need some motivation then be inspired by their life changes. Remember you have the power to stand up and live your life how you want to, so go for it!
