Koko was born in Greenwood, South Carolina on March 5, 1997. She grew up in a small country town in South Carolina, United States. Koko grew up in a family of southern rednecks and Yankee hillbillies so of course when she figured out that she was different... she didn’t really fit in. Koko was teased a lot in school and even worse at home, and that led to her being shunned by most of her family because she didn’t blend into the Bible-belt society.
While in middle school, Koko was trying to handle her parents’ breakup and take care of her two younger siblings because her mother was too much of a wreck at the time to do so. This was extremely hard for her because she was going through a suicidal phase in her life at the time all of this was happening. But one day Koko heard a song written by Dolly Parton called, Better Get to Livin, and she had an epiphany. Dolly sang, “The day we’re born we start to die, don’t waste one minute of this life.”
