The annual Dickens conference will take place in Aberdeen from 20 to 25 July, on the 150th anniversary of his visit there. The conference theme is conviviality.
A short story competition has been launched as one of the creative projects connected with Dickens Aberdeen 2016. Entries are invited of stories inspired by the life and works of Charles Dickens, or by the conference theme. The winner will be announced at the conference banquet and will be published on the Dickens Fellowship website. Highly commended entries will also be published online. Fiction and literary sketches are invited up to 3,500 words.Entries may be written in English, Scots or Doric. Send up to three entries as Word or rtf documents. The writer’s name must not appear on the manuscript. Submit by email, including details of name, postal and email addresses, phone number and the title of each piece. Entry is free.
