Dear Reader
In idle times at Writing Magazine, though few and far between, we sometimes like to look back fondly at issues past, at interviews with fledgling authors who’ve since become huge names, at the changing face of our industry…and especially at the technology. There’s advice on backing up your Amstrad word processing documents, encouragement to venture into the new ‘electronic mail’ and news about the research potential of the world wide web. And of course, as recently as fifteen years ago, the print magazine was still the best way to find out about those things. Deadline day, back then, meant a collective sigh of relief and the promise of a few gentle days before really getting stuck into the next issue. Even back in those rose-tinted days, we were actually, of course, constantly on the lookout for all the latest tips to share with you in the next issue, but now we can keep you up to date 24-7. The website needs regular feeding, the social networks run round the clock, so they need constant attention, and we’re always working on our next e-newsletter, with offers, news or anything else that catches our eye. And that’s why those idle times are increasingly so few and far between.
So don’t let a great opportunity pass you by. Make sure you visit www.writers-online.co.uk regularly, sign up for the newsletter at http://writ.rs/signuptonews, follow us on your preferred social networks, and we’ll help you find all the writing info and advice you need, when you need it.
