I write this welcome with a heavy heart, as it is the last one that I will write. I am leaving Your Dog after this issue to move into a different industry. I’ll definitely miss it.
I first started working on Your Dog in March 2013 and have made so many great memories. Some of the highlights include getting taken down by a police dog, sleeping in a dog rescue kennel for charity, going behind the scenes at Battersea, taking dog walks along the UK’s National Trails, watching cancer detection dogs in action, judging at Scruffts, and interviewing many celebrities, from gold-medal-winning Greg Rutherford to Eastenders legend Pam St Clement. However, I can hand on heart say my favourite memory is when I wrote a feature on canine epilepsy.
As part of the piece, I spoke to an incredible woman who set up the Canine Epilepsy Support Group. She featured in the article and we promoted her group. After the issue was out, she sent me a lovely letter to say several owners had got in touch and she had managed to help them, and the impact had been transformative on the lives of the dogs and owners. I still have that letter. I was so pleased as it reaffirmed why I wanted to write – to make an impact. Whether that is making the reader smile, giving them some inspiration, or educating, that’s what being a writer is about, for me. Hopefully you find just that in this festive issue! There is lots of inspiration for things to do with your dog!
Thank you for allowing me this moment of reflection, and even more for reading this wonderful magazine that I can honestly say it has been a privilege to work for. Your Dog is in safe hands and there is loads more to come! Let my final act be to wish you and your canine companions a very merry Christmas!

A great read for dog lovers

I’m a new reader of this magazine, and absolutely love it. It’s a real celebration of dogs. Lots of good advice and interesting articles, and some wonderful real-life stories that illustrate just how amazing dogs are. A treat for genuine dog people. Überprüft 24 April 2020
