Already, the Christmas adverts are on the television and you know that the wallet is going to take a bashing thanks to the season of goodwill. It's also time for the Chrismas issue of Diesel Car, on sale well in advance of the slow down before the festivities begin.
We've got one of the biggest tests of the year, as we put through the new Range Rover through its paces in sand, rocks and deep water, as well as on black-top tarmac. There's also first tests of the Porsche Cayenne S Diesel, Jaguar XF Sportbrake, and Fiat Panda 4x4, alongside the revised Mercedes-Benz G-Class, cost conscious Skoda Rapid, updated Honda CR-V and the load-lugging Chevrolet Cruze Station Wagon. Completing the set, are tests of the updated Audi Q5 and the first drive on UK roads of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
Audi's new A3 goes head to head against the BMW 1 Series in the latest M Sport three-door guise, and we get behind the wheel of the Volkswagen Beetle equipped with the 2.0-litre TDI engine and DSG gearbox. In Eco Car, we find out what it's like living with a Renault Twizy, test the Porsche Panamera S Hybrid and deliver the fourth of our long term test reports on the Lexus CT 200h.
There's a race against the clock to bring an Astra BiTurbo back from Germany in just 24 hours, a feature on a more affordable way of getting into Le Mans diesel racing cars, and we take a look at a British success story, Meridian Audio, suppliers to Jaguar Land Rover and McLaren. There's also a rather handy buying guide on the MG ZT and ZT-T.
