Custom Car

Winter 2026 The Winter 2026 issue of Custom Car is here, landing on shelves 18 December, and it’s packed with some of the most inspired, weather-defying and flat-out impressive builds of the year. Headlining the issue is a double hit from master builder Dave Rothwell, who somehow completed two full BMW-powered customs at the same time: a Hot-Wheels-leaning ’55 Hillman Husky for his son Harvey, and a subtly re-engineered ’39 Hanomag that now lives in Cornwall with Phil Whear. Both feature the same clever engineering, hand-built details and signature Rothwell ingenuity you’ll only understand once you’ve seen them up close in the full features inside. You’ll also find a rain-soaked but brilliantly attended Deuce Day at Gaydon, where 34 determined owners brought out everything from Pro Street legends to period Flathead roadsters, plus event spotlights including the Mopar Euro Nationals, NE Rod & Custom’s wet-weather meet, a big-rig-flavoured F3 nicknamed Rosie, and a ’55 Pontiac that proved itself a 5,000-mile Rømø towing hero. This month’s packed news section brings the full 2026 drag racing calendar from the UK’s major strips, updates from the VHRA, ESRA and FBHVC, product drops from Laser Tools, and the latest show and swap-meet announcements.
