The Tamron 70-180mm F2.8 Di III VXD G2 has a useful zoom range for wedding and event photography, and combines excellent sharpness with beautiful bokeh.
A lens to get hitched with
Q I’m hoping to get into wedding photography and want to buy a 70-180mm f/2.8 telephoto zoom to use with my Nikon Z f. Would you recommend the Nikon or Tamron lens?
Andy Bennett
A That’s an interesting question with a bit of history behind it. Tamron originally launched its rather excellent 70-180mm F2.8 Di III VXD nearly six years ago, but only for Sony cameras. Nikon liked it so much that they released their own version in 2023, badged as the Nikon Z 70-180mm f/2.8. They are virtually the same lens, but naturally, only the Nikon version is compatible with Z-system cameras.
