Capture ultra-wide compositions
How to shoot scenes with better balance, detail and interest when using an ultra-wide-angle lens
Wide-angle lenses can open up many opportunities for incredible perspectives of landscape scenes, interiors and even portraits. This type of optic provides a wide angle of view (AOV), often measured across the diagonal, so a large proportion of a scene can be captured in a single frame. However, while there are numerous advantages, many photographers find themselves unhappy with the results when using an ultra-wide lens for the first time. Even seasoned pros can encounter difficulties when using the new breed of ultra-wide, full-framecompatible models, now available as wide as 12mm, offering an AOV of around 120 degrees.
