Recovering deep shadow detail can often require much more than just tweaking the Shadows slider in Lightroom. While this is undoubtedly a useful tool, when you’ve underexposed a shot slightly to maintain highlight detail, for instance, it’s simply not up to the job of revealing enough shadow detail. We therefore need an alternative way of lifting shadows and that’s exactly what we’re going to explore here.
