Tilt-shift lenses are incredibly useful for avoiding converging verticals and controlling the depth of field, but they are also specialist lenses and tend to be fairly niche. Few photographers can justify the expense of splashing out on one, but if you would like to create the shallow depth-of-field effect they produce for that ‘toy town’ look, Photoshop does a pretty good job of mimicking this fun technique.
