TAKING THE BULL BY THE HORNS

Matador
Christopher Politis as The Bull. Kelly Byrne as The Matador.

Love, lust, dance! Sensual burlesque, Matador brings sweaty eroticism to the stage.

IT’S NOT often that bullfighting comes to the stage but, with Matador, be prepared for an evening of burlesque, high-energy dance and artistic acrobatic performances as a seductive passion ignites between matador and bull in an erotic yet moving love story. Written and directed by Bass G Fam, this colourful and fiery production impressed critics during it’s sold-out Melbourne season. Its cast of 14 skilled performers bring multiple disciplines to the production: burlesque, ballet, commercial and contemporary dance, Latin and circus. “While the Bull and the Matador are at the forefront of the story, each character represents a different feeling or emotion,” explains director, Bass, “and together they create the perfect blend of seduction, carnal desires, joy, passion and pain.”
