Sexy uniforms are one of the reasons to love this sport but did you know that an openly gay player invented the “the high five” as we know it? Considered the first out gay player in major league baseball, Glenn Burke originated the high five in 1977 with teammate, Dusty Baker.
As Burke recounts in his autobiography, Out At Home, he and Baker were playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers. It was the final day of the season and The Dodgers were about to make history; for the first time, four different players on the same team had all hit 30 home runs.
