The Doctor & the Mayor
Q Peter Capaldi celebrated the 100th birthday of the Evening Standard’s Londoner’s Diary at Harvey Nichols on 25 May, schmoozing with new London mayor Sadiq Khan, who after chatting with the former Malcolm Tucker disclosed, “He just told me he was a really big fan. He also said that he could swear at me if I wanted, but I said I already get enough of that in the office.” Peter was recently among card designers for children’s charity Coram (tinyurl.com/coramcapaldi), and along with Steven Moffat and Brian Minchin, he attended Russell T Davies’ A Midsummer Night’s Dream première, on 4 May. Russell promoted the production’s BBC One 30 May broadcast on Front Row, The One Show and Weekend, admitting he sought advice from David Tennant during the adaptation. The adaptation had a seven-day BARB rating of 2.1 million.
