Theatre
On 31 March, Christopher Eccleston will be amongst those celebrating the Oldham Coliseum in a farewell performance featuring many of the theatre’s alumni. Eccleston will perform excerpts from I, Daniel Blake.
As part of the Slapstick Festival in Bristol on 17 February, Matthew Sweet will interview Sylvester McCoy about his comedy heroes, before awarding the Slapstick Legacy Medal. Hugh Bonneville will host the Silent Comedy Gala, introducing a triple bill of silent comedy.
Following rave reviews in 2023, Colin Baker, Terry Molloy and Dee Sadler are back on tour in The Hound of the Baskervilles. This radio play, live on stage, tours from 5 March to 3 May. Details of the tour can be found on the Crime and Comedy Theatre Company’s website.
Television
The I Talk Telly Awards were a great success for David Tennant in November, as Staged won Best Returning Comedy and Good Omens won Best Returning Drama. Tennant and Michael Sheen won Best Comedy Partnership for their work on Staged, and for his performance in Litvinenko, Tennant won Best Dramatic Performance. Three Little Birds, of which Russell T Davies was one of the producers won Best New Drama.
