Keeping our enemies close
In The Outer Worlds 2, you invariably end up furthering the cause of one of the solar system’s power-hungry factions. Indeed, your decisions will ultimately decide who runs the region – a fascinating power to wield. Or it would be if the factions in question were a little more human, rather than gross ideological caricatures. Choosing an imperfect ally to side with in an RPG should be morally chewy, a matter of weighing worst and best outcomes, but too many options in The Outer Worlds 2 are cartoonishly wicked, only worth selecting out of curiosity. Fortunately, the game’s personal connections intrigue us far more. The individuals who join us as companions are more human, and a pleasure to get to know.
