Francesco the Vampire – as the solitary action figure based on this story is labelled – is neither a true bloodsucker nor a native of Venice. The ‘vampires’ of the title are actually fish-monsters from the planet Saturnyne, using perception filters to maintain the appearance of humans, meaning that the 2010 Francesco figure released as part of the Series 5 wave is actually a sculpt of an illusion. It’s a lovely design, though, and captures the lavish period clothing splendidly, complete with a sword accessory.
