People who don’t like disco are not to be trusted. That is cold fact. If anyone says to you they have no time for disco, end the conversation immediately. Block and report them forthwith. Because they’re just plain wrong.
Looking back at the struggles disco faced from Authentic Music bores, you can understand why it was far more exciting and preferable than The Eagles or any of that nonsense. Back then, rock was a very Western and regional hetero affair, whereas disco was multiracial, multisexual, glamorous, extravagant and, above all, life. Disco was full of desire, longing, attraction, strings, important synthesizer pulses and ecstasy. No wonder the squares tried to destroy it with dismal – and it should be said, borderline racist – schemes such as the Disco Demolition Derby in 1979, which invited people to blow up disco records because they felt under threat from its decadence.
