THE FIXX EVERY FIVE SECONDS
BFD
★★★
“Do I deserve a second chance today?” asks Cy Curnin as The Fixx’s 11th album gets underway, and though it seems a little late for that, he’s going to make sure he gives it his best shot. The English band haven’t enjoyed a Top 40 hit in either the UK or the US (where they were always a lot bigger) since the early 90s, but this first studio album for a decade is full of the kind of chest-thumping ardour that’s worked well for Bono, so maybe a revival’s not out of the question, if not perhaps at a U2 level.
