Argyll MSP Michael Russell has accused the Royal Bank of Scotland of ‘undermining rural communities’, as it closes branches in Campbeltown and Rothesay.
Ten branches, including Inveraray, were granted a stay of execution until the end of the year, but he says Inveraray ‘will still be closed’.
‘This is becoming a very simple issue’, Mr Russell said. ‘Does RBS want to support rural communities or does it want to undermine them?
